SpaceX has received the Green Light from the US FAA for its game-changing Starship rocket. This giant rocket, with its huge, strong body, is known as the largest one ever fabricated and is about to take off.
A recent photo SpaceX shared on Twitter depicted the “Megabay” at the Starbucks launch area in Texas, where four Super Heavy rockets were assembled and ready for lift-off. True, SpaceX suffered similar outcomes before, namely explosions of the previous test launches. However, the latest failure happened later in the flight plan of the Starship, which shows progress. The reason why the rocket exploded in November was made clear by Elon Musk, who stated that it would have reached orbit with a payload which would not have caused it to explode.
The Starship concept is equally a super heavy booster and a spacecraft sitting atop it. These advanced rockets will be used to send their payloads to Earth’s orbit and explore the universe.
One of the largest components of Starship is the Super Heavy booster, also designed for repeated usage. Reaching a height of 69 meters and a width of 9 meters, it is as massive as 3,400 tons of propellant capacity. Impressive 33 Raptor engines drive both of these and together, they produce a total thrust of 7,600 tons.
The second stage is the Starship spacecraft’s structure, including the integrated payload section designed to accommodate both astronauts and payloads. SpaceX says it will be able to tackle even point-to-point transportation on Earth. A payload capacity of 100-150 tons results in pushing a spaceship with a standard Raptor engine and modifying others for space flight.
This FAA approval for the launch license makes SpaceX’s Starship rocket project a step closer to the reality of the company’s ambitious plans to transform space exploration utterly. In line with its vision, the company targets new limits of space travel and seeks to push the Earthling community beyond our home planet.
