Tech tycoon Musk mocks Microsoft amid global cloud outage chaos

It was a good day for the billionaire as a major outage in Microsoft’s cloud services disrupted several flights, businesses, and banks around the globe. These two incidents are quite hilarious, and like any other Silicon Valley mogul who will not seize an opportunity to poke at his tech competitors, Elon Musk took to Twitter to have a laugh.

In one post, Musk simply shared a tweet from earlier this year referring to Microsoft as ‘Macrohard,’ a rather imaginary company. In the flow of the post, Musk wrote, ‘Macrohard >> Microsoft’.

However, Musk did not end up learning in his imagination there. He also reposted a meme that says, amid everything crashing, at least Musk’s own platform, X, formerly known as Twitter, is operational. He reacted with a laughing emoji.

Microsoft’s outage has had several impacts on businesses, such as airlines, businesses, telecom firms, and the media. Major domestic airlines of India, namely SpiceJet, IndiGo, Air India, Vistara, and Akasa Air, have experienced technical issues that affect booking, check-ins, and flight information. Owing to this, the airlines began issuing boarding passes by handwriting on A4-sized paper.

It became a world issue, hence affecting global airlines and flights; for instance, Frontier Airlines in the United States alone cancelled 147 flights, and over 200 were affected by the Software issue. Sun Country also mentioned that they had to cancel 9% of their total requested flights, while Allegiant also mentioned that they had to cancel 5% of the flights they requested from the airports.

Microsoft confirmed the disruption and stated that they had redirected the affected traffic to a different system “to lessen the effect. ” According to the technology company, Certain services are still affected, but their availability has improved.

Thus, Musk’s laid-back reaction to the Microsoft fiasco is suggestive of immediate competition and one thing leading to another within the sphere of technology.

Thus, when the dust settles, the industry will no doubt be watching how Microsoft deals with the aftermath and whether Musk’s barbs at the software maker will continue to be felt in the tech sphere.
