Elon Musk also unveiled the latest generation of Tesla’s humanoid Optimus at the We, Robot event.
While these robots can now do anything, according to Musk, Optimus reveals that the hardest part of being a robot is learning how to be human. Read on.
Elon Musk showcased what the future will look like at the We, Robot event.
The future stuff here ranged from self-driven cars to humanoid robots. While most people got enamored with the Cybercabs- those fully autonomous vehicles with no pedals or steering wheel- the media attention given to Tesla Optimus also stayed caught up.
Cool, right? The presentation demonstrated Optimus’s abilities: walking, dancing, holding a glass, waving back, and speaking.
The real fun, though, was after the demonstration had ended. Tesla permitted the humanoids to mingle around and talk to people (of course, under the surveillance of the other Tesla members).
One fascinating talk with Optimus at the festival was when they asked, “What is the toughest part of being a robot?” Optimus replied in the most human way possible.
After thinking for some seconds, it said, “I’m Trying to learn how to be a human like you guys are.” Not only was the answer profound, but the speech it delivered with hand gestures was very human.
Seeing the humanoid understand the little quirks of human conversations was also excellent.
It would take gaps between sentences to understand the context, ask follow-up questions, and even have small talks. And it kept turning to the camera and the human, just like we do, trying to engage with both.
