Xiaomi unveils electric SUV SU7 ahead of bookings launch.
Xiaomi has unveiled its much-anticipated first electric vehicle – the SUV7 as it aims to take on rivals like Tesla. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun shared details of the EV, stating it will have “best looks, drivability, and intelligence” under the price range of 500,000 yuan or $69,424.
The company confirmed pre-orders for the electric SUV will begin on March 24 with an official pricing announcement.
Xiaomi stores across 29 Chinese cities have begun showcasing the ocean blue version of the SUV7 to garner public feedback.
A ‘Xiaomi Car’ mobile app was also rolled out on regional app stores. Showroom visitors admired the car’s design, aesthetics, and technology features.
SUV7 will be offered in two battery options: a 668 km single-charge range version and an upgraded 800 km model that rivals Tesla’s driving range.
While experts note pricing remains a key factor, Xiaomi hopes to enter the top five global automaker league, banking on its reputation of delivering good value through budget phones, electronics, and electric vehicles.
