It has become increasingly complicated following a recent attack on the former president of the United States of America, Donald Trump Libby; an aide to Reid Hoffman, the co-founder of LinkedIn as well as the executive chairman of the same linked profile, has been reported to have opened controversy by stating that the reported attack might have been faked.
The attack, which was conducted during a protest against Trump, who at the time was campaigning as the Republican candidate for the forthcoming US presidential election, left the former president with a damaged right ear.
Directors such as Alejandro González Iñárritu and others have expressed their outrage at the offender in the video, leading to HFPA’s top political advisor, Dmitri Mehlhorn, being criticized for his comments.
For his part, in an e-mail that he sent to a couple of journalists, Mehlhorn sent a possible message that the shooting might have been an act by Trump himself to gain ‘photos and benefits from the backlash. ’ Although, in a statement, on Sunday, Sunday, Mehlhorn issued an apology, admitting the weight of his words.
“Last night, I sent an email I now regret. I drafted and sent it without consulting my team. I have apologized to them directly. I also want to apologize publicly, without reservation, for allowing my words to distract from last night’s central fact:
I mean, Mehlhorn stated that; political violence continues to claim another American victim, the victim was Corey Comperatore, ex-fire chief, he supported Trump. Two other spectators did not escape the situation; they got injured; their names are David Dutch and James Copenhaver.
Mehlhorn then challenged Americans to come together to say no to such violence in every case without equivocation and then went on to say that any other subject is off-topic.
Hoffman, the LinkedIn co-founder, also opposed the attack and said, “Assassination is not only categorically wrong, it is also the assassination of our democracy. ” It is shameful that someone has attempted to assassinate (former) President Trump; everyone, no matter their stance on this election, should denounce political violence vehemently.
While the Nation deals with the consequences of this act, debate continues over Mehlhorn’s comments, fueling the political tension that precedes the presidential election.
