Earlier in the build-up to the Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls, Union Minister and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy said the party’s candidate list would be decided this week after the meeting of the national election committee.
Speaking to newsmen after the J&K BJP election committee meeting, Reddy said, “The state election committee will recommend names, which will then be recommended for a final panel to the national election committee. The committee’s decision will be under the chairmanship of BJP National President JP Nadda. Because the last date for filing nominations is August 27, the names will be declared within this week. ”
Reddy further noted that the party is in the process of protecting Jammu and Kashmir from terrorism, favoritism, and corruption. He said, “They are profiled as anti-farmer, anti-employment, and anti-poor while we are termed pro-farmer, pro-employment, and pro-poor,” adding, “This group of our party is non-existent post the abrogation of article 370, brotherhood and peace reign in J&K. ”
The BJP, however, remained unrepentant and assured the people that it was committed to the development of the state and resisting anti-Development forces while listing the Developmental achievements of the party and the government, including Infrastructure Development, Declining Violence, Emerging Business Hub, etc. “Delimitation has been done, for development across all sectors, The BJP plans to fight all 90 seats on its own,” he said.
From the BJP camp, Jugal Kishore Sharma predicted, “The people of Jammu and Kashmir have expected this election news. They are charged up, and so are our party workers. We shall win by a strong margin. ”
Another former Deputy CM, Nirmal Singh, also affirmed that after discussions inside the party, the manifesto has almost been finalized, which marks a change in the region for the first time after the abrogation on August 5, 2019. “Now there is calm, and the emphasis is on the creation of jobs for young people,” he said.
These assembly elections are the first in a decade in Jammu and Kashmir; the polling will take place in three phases on September 18, September 25, and October 1, while the counting of votes will be held on October 4. This election took place after the collapse of the PDP-BJP government in June 2018. In December, the Supreme Court asked the Centre to complete the electoral process in the region by September 30, 2024.
