Banerjee accuses BJP of poll code violations, controlling central agencies.
On Monday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee levelled serious allegations against the BJP for violating the Model Code of Conduct in place for the Lok Sabha elections. Addressing a rally in Cooch Behar, the TMC supremo claimed central investigating agencies like NIA, I-T department, BSF and CISF were working at the behest of the saffron party.
She urged the Election Commission to ensure a level playing field, stating that these forces were aiding the BJP’s poll machinations.
Banerjee also criticized the BJP for nominating a former SP allegedly involved in Sitalkuchi firing incidents during last year’s state elections.
Dubbing the BJP a “fake” party spreading lies over issues like CAA-NRC, she cautioned people against applying for citizenship under the new law.
The CM exuded confidence in her government’s relief efforts after a storm claimed lives in Jalpaiguri last week. She reiterated her resolve not to let the BJP “divide Bengal” through religious lines.
Banerjee sought votes for TMC alone, alleging state’s opposition parties were covertly helping the ruling party at the centre.
