Supreme court Declines to list Arvind Kejriwal’s bail Extension Plea

The Apex Court dismisses Arvind Kejriwal’s plea for an additional seven days of interim bail in a money laundering of Rs 1,000 crore in connection with the Delhi excise policy.

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court declined Kejriwal’s appeal to add one week to his interim bail in a money laundering case connected to Delhi’s liquor policy. The court registry denied acceptance of the application, stating that Kejriwal was allowed to approach the trial court to seek regular bail, and in such a scenario, the application is not maintainable.

The AAP chief has requested the court grant a seven-day extension to his interim bail as his period is over on June 1 on medical grounds. In the extension of bail plea, Kejriwal stated this way:

“Unexplained weight loss is deemed to be a life-threatening dangerous disease; hence, my health deteriorated partly due to the violence or callousness of the treatment accorded to me by the jail officials. Another week of bail will enable me to properly access health risks.”

Earlier, the court had turned down a plea for an urgent hearing of Arvind Kejriwal’s petition for an extension of the bail term, stating that it would seek direction from the CJI DY Chandrachud.


”This has been heard and reserved. Let this be taken to the Chief Justice and let him decide. We shall put it to the Chief Justice,” it said

Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate regarding the liquor policy on March 21st.
