Israel’s Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency medical service said several people had been injured, primarily by shrapnel and glass shards, in a direct strike on a building in Tira.
At least 19 were injured after a missile strike in the Israeli town of Tira early Saturday. The Army reported three projectiles had been launched from Lebanon into central Israel.
According to the AFP, four of the 19 were said to be “in moderate condition,” and they were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Earlier, Israel’s Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency medical service said that several people had been wounded in Tira primarily by shrapnel and glass shards in a direct strike on a building.
Lebanon’s Iran-backed Hezbollah group soon claimed responsibility in a statement, saying it had targeted military and intelligence facilities in northern and central Israel using missiles and explosive drones.
It said that it fired toward the Israeli military’s Unit 8200 base in Glilot on the edge of Tel Aviv and that it fired rockets toward military facilities in Zvulun.
According to the Associated Press, Hezbollah has boasted of targeting the Palmachim Air Base in central Israel with explosive drones. It bragged that the explosive drones “scored precise hits on targets.”
The Israeli Foreign Ministry posted videos on social media, which showed fire and smoke spilling from a building into the street before the emergency responders gathered at the scene.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Army said on Telegram that it had intercepted some of the three projectiles fired from Lebanon. Several other visuals shared on social media showed significant damage to the roof and top floor of the three-story building and the cars below.
“This is the result of a direct hit of a Hezbollah rocket on a building in the Israeli Arab town of Tira, injuring 19 civilians,” it said in the post. “We cannot and will not rest until Hezbollah is dismantled,” it added.
