49 Palestinians killed in Gaza conflict

At least 49 Palestinians, eight of them seekers of aid, have been killed and 262 injured in Israeli assaults throughout the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours, the enclave’s Health Ministry reported.

US President Donald Trump met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Wednesday, where both leaders boasted of their contentious plan to push blockaded Palestinians into adjacent nations.

At least two members of the crew of the Liberian-flagged, Greek-operated bulk carrier Eternity C died in yesterday evening’s drone and speedboat attack off Yemen’s coast, Liberia’s shipping delegation has informed a gathering of the International Maritime Organisation.

Earlier yesterday evening, before Monday’s attack, Yemen’s Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for a strike on Sunday on the Liberia-flagged, Greek-operated MV Magic Seas bulk carrier, claiming that the vessel had sunk.

“While Liberia was still grappling with shock and mourning the attack on Magic Seas, we heard that Eternity C has once again been attacked, brutally attacked, resulting in the killing of two mariners,” Liberia’s representative informed the UN shipping agency’s meeting.

Two other sailors were wounded in the attack, the Reuters news agency reported, citing a source who asked not to be identified. Since last June, six seafarers have been killed in Red Sea vessel attacks.

Additionally, as we previously reported, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that a merchant ship suffered extensive damage and lost all propulsion following a five rocket-propelled grenade attack off the west coast of Yemen’s Hodeidah port.

Mostafa Abu Wotfa, one of the witnesses to the Israeli attack on the school that was housing displaced Palestinians in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, said that people were sleeping quietly when, at around 2:50 am (11:50 GMT), they heard the hum of drones.

The attack resembled a ring of fire. These are schoolchildren. What is it with this school? There’s nothing in it apart from children. It’s only an abode for kids who have nowhere else to call home. These drones are attacking nylon tents where individuals are just trying to sleep. Honestly, I don’t know why,” he said to Al Jazeera.

Ahmed Qarnawi, another Palestinian refugee who was present during the attack, reported that he and 10 other people who were sleeping in a tent woke up to a horrific noise of bombing and extreme lights.

The explosions were so strong that even our blankets were burnt,” he explained. “We began checking on the children and attempting to ensure everyone was alright. My hands are still full of soot because I have been trying to salvage whatever I can.
