Abu Dhabi’s crown prince Al Nahyan touches down in Delhi to strengthen India-UAE relations

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi arrives in India to boost strategic ties.

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, arrived in New Delhi on Sunday for a two-day official visit to strengthen India-UAE relations.

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal received Sheikh Khaled at the airport where he was accorded a ceremonial welcome in line with the importance of the visit.

The Crown Prince is accompanied by ministers and a business delegation. After Delhi talks with PM Modi and Goyal, he will participate in an India-UAE business forum in Mumbai on Tuesday.

The MEA said the visit will open new avenues of partnership between the strategic partners. Bilateral ties were elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership after PM Modi’s 2015 UAE visit.

India and UAE enjoy robust trade and investment ties, signing a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and Local Currency Settlement System.

The Gulf country was invited as a special invitee to G20 under India’s presidency. The launch of the India-UAE-France trilateral in February 2023 and the UAE joining BRICS and SCO have strengthened cooperation.

The first India-UAE army exercise was held in January 2024, reflecting growing defense ties. The 3.5 million strong Indian diaspora in UAE underpins cultural linkages between the nations.
