Al Jazeera defies Israel’s office closure order

“We are against the criminal and unlawful violations of the Israeli expected violation of the right to access information,”

Al Jazeera said in a tweet on X in Arabic.

Doha: Al Jazeera, a Jerusalem-based network, on Sunday judged “criminal” a decision by the Israel national administration to ban the channel from working in the conflict between Gaza and the Israelis.

“It’s Israel’s criminal acts that violate the human right to free access to information,” the Al-Jazeera network condemns and denounces in Arabic on X, previously Twitter.

The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, told the public on Sunday that his ministers came up with the plan to close off the Gaza Strip.

Al Jazeera has been under merciless attacks by Netanyahu and his administration, which have gone on for months as a continuation of a rift between them that began way back when Hamas fought the war in Gaza.

Israel’s Communications Minister, Shlomo Karhi, said he had given the order to cease broadcasting, collect the equipment, and allow only Al Jazeera websites to transmit. In this regard, the Israeli premier also expressed his views in a joint statement with the ministry.

After the outbreak of Israel’s aerial bombardment on the Gaza Strip on the 7th day of October, the Al Jazeera news channel broadcast live analysis and coverage of the daily toll of Gaza under the campaign.
