In one horrible tragedy, two Al Jazeera journalists, Ismail al-Ghoul and Rami al-Refee, have been killed by the Israeli airstrike targeting the Gaza Strip. This catastrophe took place on Wednesday in the Shati refugee camp situated in the western areas of Gaza as the reporters were conveying the situation of the conflict.
Sources suggested the two were close to the residence of Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas who was earlier poisoned to death in Tehran, Iran. Al Jazeera’s Anas al-Sharif, who was at the hospital, stated on behalf of the network mourning ism: “Ismail was telling the world the suffering of displaced Palestinians and the oppression of the [Israeli] occupation. ”

Press Freedom Index has shown the situation has worsened since October when war began and at least 111 journalists and media workers have been killed, this was revealed by Committee to Protect Journalists.
Al Jazeera’s managing editor, Mohamed Moawad, has condoled the death of Ismail al-Ghoul, saying that although his voice has been cut off, he dies knowing that he achieved his purpose to his people.
