Last April, three Indian nationals were arrested and charged for the murder of a prominent Sikh partisan and an activist for Indian independence, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, in Canada. A 45-year-old Najjar was killed by four masked gunmen that happened in the spring on a street of a Vancouver suburb in June of last year.
The matter turned out to be the grounds for the deepening of the diplomatic dispute between Ottawa and New Delhi, as the head of the federal government of Canada, Justin Trudeau claimed that the Indian government was implicated in the case, and the Delhi authorities sharply denied this version.
The trio, Karan Brar (22), Kalam Preet Singh (22), and Karan Preet Singh (28), were arrested in Edmonton, Alberta, where it is believed they have been residing since their escape. They were charged with the short of murder and conspiracy to murder. According to the police, all three likely lived here for three to five years.
Investigations precolonial via ToT and have connections to the government of India. The Commissioner also expounded that investigations are availed to people apart from individuals made with arrests.
Discouragingly, Hardeep Singh Nijjar was a Sikh separatist who stood for the Khalistan cause, which was the demand of an independent Sikhland state in the Punjab state of India. The assassination had grave concerns about a person’s safety and the instability of the Sikh community.
The diplomatic feud between Canada and India is due to the fall of Canadian ambassadors in Delhi that is blamed on Canadians who are hiding alleged ‘Khalistani terrorists and extremists.’ Trudeau is facing lots of pressure to produce evidence supporting his allegations that Indians were involved in Nijjar’s assassination.
