In a rather shocking turn of events, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks as the main suspect in the attempted assassination of the ex-president of the United States of America (USA), Donald Trump. The occurrence happened at a campaign event held in Butler, Pennsylvania, where the octogenarian candidate of the Republican party sustained a minor ear injury.
In one of the paragraphs, the FBI statement mentioned that Crooks was a registered Republican in the state, and he shot at Trump, and the bullet penetrated through the upper part of his right ear. The incident was also fatal for a passer-by, and two more people were severely wounded.
The event that took place was as surprising as the brazen attempt to shoot the menagerie Ohio Tanter when Trump was to speak at his last rally before the Republican National Convention. Ten thousand of his supporters, fans, and well-wishers were in the vicinity when the firing incident occurred, and the US Secret Service went into action.
During the first interview about the attack, Trump stated as follows: ‘I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear, and I knew at once something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots and immediately felt the very bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, and I realized what was happening.
The ex-president also thanked the Secret Service, police, and other guards for their ‘fast’ reaction while emphasizing that the occurrence was ‘unbelievable’ and regretting the possibility of such an action in the country.
The FBI, which has been leading the federal investigation into last Wednesday’s attack on the U. S Capitol, has asserted that the shooting is being viewed as “an assassination attempt” on the erstwhile president. Nonetheless, the authorities still have not established the reason behind the attack made by the suspect.
This is a shocking incident that has occurred just three and a half months into the next United States November 5 presidential election, in which Trump will again be vying against the Democratic candidate, Joe Biden.
