The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee could delay the announcement of the upcoming ODI series against England, hoping that the ICC will delay the announcement of the provisional squad.
According to reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India is likely to request an extension from the International Cricket Council on the deadline to announce India’s provisional squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.
The report by Cricbuzz states that Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee may postpone the announcement of the ODI series that India is scheduled to play against England. It is also being said that BCCI can use their prior obligation of playing tour in Australia as an excuse to prolong the deadline.
Players who will feature in 50-over games against England could be in the provisional squad, while India’s Champions Trophy 2025 squad could be announced on January 18-19.
The T20I squad is likely to be announced in the coming days, and those who participated in the Bangladesh series are expected to feature once again. Arshdeep Singh will likely spearhead the bowling attack and will be expected to feature in the 50-over series.
