Betrayed businessman sues Apple over ‘Deleted’ messages scandal

What would one think of modern relationships and digital privacy? A businessman from England is suing the California-based tech giant Apple for 5 million pounds. This background for the legally charged conflict can be traced to a sex scandal that began in his own home.

As cited in other dailies, the man, whose identity has not been disclosed to the public, has been using iMessage from Apple to connect with the ladies of the night. Assuming that he exercises enough command on his iPhone to erase the messages beyond retrievals, the businessman found his folly when his wife stumbled on the saved chimes of the exchanged messages on the iMac, which the couple jointly used.

’If you are told a message is deleted, then you should be allowed to believe that it has been deleted,’ the man snapped when pointing the finger at Apple for not making the users aware that if a message is deleted from a device, it is not necessarily done from the other connected devices it could be. The final decision to connect all the family’s devices to one Apple ID was the last straw that turned the man into a criminal.

His wife searched his ‘bliss’ and found these messages.’’ The discovery of these messages by his wife was the biggest shock, and this led her to seek a divorce – a decision that has been costly to the man as he has lost over 5 million pounds. The man said that the divorce was shameful and easy but wished that better communication could have saved his marriage if the messages had not been exposed like that.

Hear, hear, the man’s lawyer, Simon Walton, has also reiterated his client’s sentiments, arguing that Apple had not disclosed to users that message deletion posed a loss of messages. “This happens especially in many cases where the iPhone shows a message that ‘messages have been deleted,’ which is not true since they are still retrievable on other connected devices, but this Apple never verifies to its users,” Walton said.

As a result of unfair actions taken against him, and given that Apple has yet to take responsibility for the incident, he has now involved the legal system, filing a class-action lawsuit in a bid to force Apple to change its ways and perhaps seek justice for all who have been dealt with unfairly by the tech giant.

It also raises awareness about personal conduct online and how important it is in today’s society to specify what people can/cannot do when using social networks by providing an account of this case through its particulars.
