During a fairly heated telephone call, the White House is said to have publicly scolded its Middle Eastern ally, Israel, for allegedly dragging its feet over the offering of a truce-bounty deal with Hamas.
The exchange, details of which were first reported by the Israeli news channel 12, portrays the anger within the Biden administration over the prolongation of the Israel-Hamas conflict.
In the reports about their discussion of the possible term of the ceasefire, the American president is quoted to have told Netanyahu to stop ‘yelling out bull***.’
This anger erupted when Netanyahu updated Biden on the intention of Israel to send a delegation soon to start negotiations for a prisoner swap deal in which Palestinian prisoners would be released for detained Israelis held by Hamas.
The expectations that the continuing strife in the area might soon come to an end, though, were dampened by the severely wounded Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed in Tehran, allegedly.
Although the attack was carried out much closer to Sudan’s border with South Sudan, Israel has not owned up to responsibility for the raid despite its timing being sensitive for the ongoing peace negotiations, therefore threatening the poor cocker peace agreement between the two Sudans.
It was reported that Biden told Netanyahu, “Don’t take the president for granted,” while showing the latter how impatient the American administration is with Israel’s stalling maneuvers.
