Without any delay, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), out to dethrone the Sheikh Hasina regime, has dismissed all the US ambition that the outspoken PM has accused the country of having—of forming a military base in Bangladesh. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir termed those as “irresponsible remarks. ”
Bangladesh’s current PM, who is in India seeking asylum, has accused foreign powers such as the US of toppling her. She conveyed this message to the supporters of the Awami League, stating that the new interim government should not let itself be used by such foreign powers. Alamgir categorically ruled out any such talks of the US setting up an airbase in Pakistan.
“This is very unfortunate that a person who was the prime minister of an independent country for the last fifteen years could make such irresponsible remarks. Unfortunately, I believe wherever she is in a problem, she blames others,” Alamgir said in an exclusive interview with CNN-News18.
Debunking Hasina’s reports on the linkage between the US regime change plot on this BNP, Alamgir dismissed the allegations as plain “bullshit. “ Therefore, he emphasized that what was ongoing in Bangladesh was a “students and people’s uprising and not a diplomatic foreign campaign.
Earlier this week, the Bangladesh Parliament was dissolved following the army chief’s statement that Hasina had resigned following her evacuation from the country. The BNP Secretary General emphasized anew the party’s unequivocal support to the Hindus in the country now experiencing attacks, harassment, and burnings to their places of worship and friendly relations with India.
Alamgir also explained that the existence of the interim government’s permission for Hasina Astride is related to the Indian decision as the BNP is insistent on trying her for alleged crimes.
The advisory council swore in 17 members last Thursday, some of them from the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami. When asked about the chances of the BNP Jamaat collaboration, Alamgir explained that the BNP has no relations with Jamaat-e-Islami but refers to it as an ally. He declared the BNP’s intention and readiness to ensure that all political parties, including Hasina’s Awami League, take part in the election.
