Gabriel Freitas, a Brazilian reality TV personality who once captivated millions with his inspiring 32-stone (approx. 200 kg) weight loss, has died aged 37. His story and determination to turn his life around made him a household name. Still, it was marred by personal tragedy and struggles that finally led to his untimely death from a heart attack, reportedly on December 30.
According to close friend Ricardo Gouvea, the news of Gabriel’s death was made known, with Gouvea further stating that the influencer passed away peacefully in his sleep.
Speaking warmly about the late friend, Ricardo said, “Gabriel died practically sleeping; he didn’t suffer. He died trying. He fought till the end. He was so strong. So, I respect him a lot. He’s a very good person with a very good heart.” This was, according to the Mirror.
He first gained popularity in 2017 after appearing on Programa do Gugu, a popular Brazilian television show with a segment called Virou Outra Pessoa, or Become Another Person.
During this time, Gabriel weighed more than 50 stone (around 320 kg). Standing 6 feet 4 inches tall, he underwent an incredible journey on diet and exercise, during which he managed to lose more than 200 kg within the span of 18 months. This unbelievable feat gained great popularity and widespread acclaim; in fact, show host Gugu Liberato admired him for achieving the impossible.
