India squad for Champions Trophy Highlights: The BCCI selection committee will meet this week to pick a provisional 15-member squad for the eight-team tournament starting on February 19 in Karachi.
India’s squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and the white-ball series (5 T20Is and 3 ODIs) against England announcement Highlights: The BCCI selectors are going to meet this week to pick India’s squad for the 2025 edition of the ICC Champions Trophy, to be held by Pakistan this year.
India’s matches in the premier ICC tournament are scheduled to take place at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The eight-team ICC event is returning after eight years, and the last date to pick the squad for it is January 12.
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and KL Rahul are almost a guarantee for the Champions Trophy, as India last won it in 2013 when they defeated England in the final played at Edgbaston. However, question marks hang over the selection of star pacer Jasprit Bumrah and spinner Kuldeep Yadav.
Bumrah is suffering from a back spasm and will report to the NCA in the coming days. He will be considered for selection only after getting clearance from the medical team. On the other hand, Kuldeep has been out of action since October 2024. He underwent surgery in November and hasn’t played competitive matches since then.
Mohammed Shami last played for India in the ODI World Cup 2023 final; since then, he has been out with a groin injury. After making a successful comeback in domestic cricket, the 34-year-old pacer will likely also make a comeback for the national team.
This would mean the Indian players who played in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series are less likely to be selected for the five-match T20I series against England, which begins on January 22 in Kolkata. Nearly the same team will represent India in the ODI series.
