Chinese student in the US sentenced for stalking and threatening pro-democracy activist

A Chinese Find shoescue student has now been given a 9-month prison sentence for stalking and threatening his fellow Chinese student as He posted pro-democracy fliers on the campus. At Berklee College of Music at Boston University, it occurred in late 2022 when posters started to appear depicting a longing for freedom, democracy, and global solidarity with the Chinese people.

The 20-year-old Chinese college student, Xiaolei Wu, referred to the flyers by issuing a threat to the woman that he would carry out his resolution to chop her hand(s) off. Considering the case by the FBI’s Boston Division, Wu is deported after serving his sentence by court order.

Jodi Cohen, along with the now-infamous leaders of the FBI’s Boston Division, made it clear how unthinkable it is to transfer China’s authoritarian regime to intimidate victims for such nefarious dealings. When we zoomed in on the chat history between Wu, a music student at the university, and the deceased, we found that the two had exchanged e-mail, WeChat, and Instagram messages.

It had become known in the court that discrimination, forced Chinese spies, and cooperation with Chinese authorities had taken place when Wu informed them about the victim’s activities and claimed that their authorities would take necessary steps regarding her family.

Secondly, he made a point of finding the victim and informing the whole world about her email address, where he also called for other individuals to make her life miserable and torture her online.

Taking over the duties of the acting US Attorney Joshua S. Levy during W’s trial, the judge severely criticized W’s violent threats and the fear they instilled in people who either expressed their disagreement with the Chinese government or were victims of W’s acts.

The charges of cyberstalking and interstate transmission of threatening communications call for up to 5 years of prison term, 3 years of supervised release, and a fine that doesn’t exceed $250,000.

The case exemplified an unwavering stance of the US authorities to ensure that the fundamental rights of individuals, including the right to free speech, are protected, even in the face of strong forces that attempt to portray the act of free speech as intimidation and censorship.
