In a shocking turn of events, the police arrested a 23-year-old Colombian woman, nicknamed “The Doll,” in a series of gang-related murders, one of which involved her ex-boyfriend. Karen Julieth Ojeda Rodriguez is a reputed “dangerous hitwoman” linked to several high-profile killings in Barrancabermeja.
According to various reports out of the Spanish outlet Libertad Digital, Rodriguez was arrested by the Magdalena Medio Police following the ambush-style murder of her ex-boyfriend, Deyvy Jesus. The authorities stated that Rodriguez had been trying to build up her criminal empire by having a group of hitmen who terrorized the public. The police report explained how Rodriguez lured her ex-boyfriend on the pretext of discussing a money dispute, where two assailants riding a motorcycle opened fire and killed him on her behest.
Besides Rodriguez, two accomplices were arrested. One of the suspects, 24-year-old Paula Valentina Joya, goes by the alias “Gorda Sicaria,” or “Fat Hitwoman.” A third suspect, only identified as “Leopoldo,” was also arrested. Agents seized a revolver and a 9-millimeter caliber pistol during the operation, and further investigation will be conducted to determine whether the weapons were used in any recent homicides.
Lieutenant Colonel Mauricio Herrara, from the Magdalena Medio Police, commented on the arrests: “The capture of ‘La Muneca’ and ‘Leopoldo’ has helped to restore calm in the region. The arrests mean progress in the process of dismantling the criminal structures responsible for the recent homicides.”.
As of this moment, formal charges filed against Rodriguez and her accomplices have not been released yet. The community follows it closely as the law continues to grapple with gangland violence in the area.
