The 77-year-old Congressman was attending a celebration of Ukraine’s Independence Day at Ukraine House when he collapsed.
As per his official social media handle, Wilson was taken to a local hospital where doctors are evaluating him after he experienced stroke-like symptoms.
His son, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, said in a post that he spoke to his father who is currently stable and under medical supervision.
Reports state that the Ukrainian ambassador was addressing the gathering when she stopped upon noticing Wilson’s condition and requested a doctor.
A senior member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Wilson has represented South Carolina in the US Congress since 2001.
