Former army chief General (retd) Aziz Ahmed and his wife Dilshad Nahar Kakoli have been declared a no-go area, along with corruption charges against them, by a Dhaka court.
The judge handling this case is Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court Dhaka’s Mohammed Ash-Shams Joglul Hossain.
An ACC official working at the court said Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Mohammad Zakaria, leader of the investigation team, submitted an application in this respect.
ACC Public Prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jahangir filed the petition on behalf of the ACC, he said.
In its application to the ACC, it has stated that there is an ongoing inquiry into the graft allegations against Aziz and Kakoli for their claims that surfaced recently. So, a travel ban is needed to prevent them from flying out of the country.
The magistrate also forwarded a duplicate of the order to the special superintendent of police (immigration) of the Special Branch for further action.
