Deadly Israeli air strike kills five Palestinians in West Bank camp

A night raid conducted by Israeli forces in the Nur Shams refugee camp in the occupied West Bank has resulted in the death of five Palestinians, out of which three were teenagers.

The incident has been described from Ramallah, a city that has witnessed a lot of unrest and has led to mayhem; Palestinian factions claim that Israel targets prominent resistance groups in the camp.

As stated by the medical sources, the victims of the strike were Adnan Jaber (15 years), Mohammed Ahmad Elayyan (16 years), Mohannad Qarawi (19 years), Jibril Ghassan Jibril (20 years), and Mohammed Ali Yusif (49 years). Jibril was also released recently, having been exchanged by the Palestinian group of Hamas and Israel.

“Israeli forces have been keen on neutralizing him, and he has been one of the leaders, if not the most dominant one, of the Tulkarem and the Nur Shams battalion in the refugee camp, and actually, he survived several assassination attempts,”

The Israeli strikes are operating within a more general trend of increased violence in the occupied West Bank once the new conflict in Gaza began. Several Palestinian factions have expressed their anger over the attack and demanded the formation of more operations against the “illegal occupation.”

In parallel to this, in another act of rampage, Israeli settlers opened fire on homes in the village of Wadi Rahal, near Bethlehem, killing a 40-year-old Palestinian man and leaving six men injured. The Israeli authorities and military, as well as the police force, are currently investigating the incident.

A wave of the assaults is the Israeli settlers – the Jews who occupy private Palestinian territories in the West Bank and east Jerusalem and who are against international law. A total of at least seven Palestinians have been killed in various acts of settler violence since the beginning of this year, the Palestinian Authority has confirmed.

As the acts of violence persist, the global powers have urged for a ceasefire and safeguarding of the aspiring citizens of the conflicting parties.
