Eid al-Adha celebrations are overshadowed by the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict

While Palestinians in Gaza and occupied East Jerusalem celebrated the Eid al-Adha rituals, a ceasefire between Israel and the Gaza Strip remained a distant possibility, thus indicating the continuous nature of the war. It is still uncertain today what is happening there, and information is received that there is still fighting and destruction from them and our side.

The Israeli army halted its operations on Sunday morning and declared that it was beginning a ‘tactical pause’. However, it isn’t known whether PM Benjamin Netanyahu or Def Min Yoav Gallant authorized such a move. At the same time, the casualties steadily rise – the Palestinians have already lost at least 28 of their people as a result of Israel’s bombings of three houses in Gaza City.

The Israeli army has since burnt and destroyed several homes as the recent battle in Rafah saw Al-Qassam Brigades fighters claiming the lives of eight IDF soldiers. The new death toll as a result of the aggression by the Hamas-led government of Gaza is now put at 1, 139 and still, tens of people are being held as captives in the Gaza Strip.

Gang violence has continued to rise, with many negative effects on the civilians in the regions affected by the violence. The United Nations organization demanded that another 50,000 children in Gaza are severely malnourished and need medical intervention.

While the conflict started on the 7th of October, the total number of deaths has accumulated to a significant number. In details that have been reported recently, I estimated that at least 37,296 have been killed and 85,197 have been wounded as a result of the Israeli attacks on Gaza.

While the tensions on the ground have escalated, especially with the recent events, the conflict being witnessed in the media has increased; the solution to the protracted conflict between Israel and Gaza requires a definite ceasefire and diplomatic negotiation process. Nowadays, people pay much attention to the celebrations of Eid al-Adha; at the same time, violence still exists to predict the region’s future.
