Eight Taliban soldiers killed in clash with Pakistani forces

As many as eight Afghan Taliban soldiers, of whom two were commanders, were killed in a fight with the personnel of Pakistani security in the border area close to the volatile Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The exchange, which was recorded in the Khurram border district of the province on the weekend, also left 16 Afghan Taliban soldiers injured.

Afghanistan forces targeted the Pak checkpost with rockets and other heavy weapons in Palosin village on the Pak Afghan border on Saturday morning, as per sources in Dawn newspaper.

They have called from the other side, saying that they tend to suffer heavy losses. Till today, eight Afghan Taliban have been reported to have been killed and 16 others injured in firing by the Pakistani forces in retaliation, while sources report that two ‘key’ commanders have been killed.

As usual, there was no statement from the other side—the Pakistani military’s public relations arm known as the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Afghan troops fired at Pakistani security forces several times before along the border of the two countries. Earlier ISI used to inform Kabul about such events, like it used to do in the past in Islamabad.

The Afghan Taliban, who were in the past helping to manage militant operations in this country, were now over the border directly targeting forces, information revealed.

Because of the volatile security situation in the region, bilateral trade activity was reduced to zero over the weekend. Some skirmishes were also observed on the border on Sunday, but no loss of life was reported.
