Elon Musk backs mother of Suchir Balaji over OpenAI claims

Poornima Rao, mother of Suchir Balaji, alleged that her son did not commit suicide, and there have been serious lapses in the investigation.

Suchir Balaji was a 26-year-old former OpenAI researcher who died with an accusation against the company for violating copyright laws. Poornima Rao, the mother of Suchir Balaji, aired fresh allegations while speaking with Tucker Carlson in an interview. The mother alleged that her son’s death was not suicide and further said there had been major lapses in the investigation.

When asked whether Suchir Balaji could have committed suicide, his mother said, “He celebrated his birthday a day before he died. What more must we give because he was in a happy mood?” He also accepted a birthday gift from his father on the day of this death, she shared.

She says she knew that her son was dead because he looked dead sitting in the white van. She added, “The police didn’t even bother to inform me, making excuse after excuse.” “It took them 14 minutes to diagnose what it was that caused my son’s death, telling me he’d hanged himself, before they brought me back my car keys, instructing me that I could retrieve his body the following day in the evening,” she added.

She said some packages were also missing, adding, “Everybody is suppressed; nobody is ready to come up and tell the truth. Even the attorneys have been made to tell that it is a suicide.”

Tesla CEO Elon Musk reposted the interview on X (formerly Twitter), saying that the allegations were “extremely concerning.”
