Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently said some very nice things about Diet Coke after a photo of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump posing with Coca-Cola Chairman and CEO James Quincey made the rounds. Musk’s response to the photo, which he posted on X, was brief: “The inventor of Diet Coke is a genius.”
Trump proudly clutches a special-edition Diet Coke bottle bearing a one-off label declaring, “The Swearing in of Donald Trump as President January 20, 2025,” while a smiling Quincey looks on as they pose for the shot. The special bottle itself is encased in a nice red box, complete with insert stating how much Coca-Cola provides to the economy of the United States in an astonishing $55 billion and close to 860,000 jobs.
Over the years, Coca-Cola has traditionally been creating special inaugural bottles, with earlier models, such as those made for the inauguration of Barack Obama, said to have commanded up to $50 on sites like eBay, the Daily Mail UK reports.
He loves talking about his love of Diet Coke: Once, Musk joked on now former X that he had a “drinking problem” and attached what his nightstand usually consists of: Cans of Diet Coke, a glass of water, some headphones, and black boots.
During the first Trump presidency, love for Diet Coke turned popular to such an extent that he had installed a button inside the Oval Office for immediate needs for his favorite soda.
