Escalating conflict: Israel strikes Syria amid rising tensions

The Israeli Air Force continued to bomb Syria, especially targets like ports and missile warehouses in Latakia and Tartous. This incident synchronized with the movement of ground troops into the Syrian Golan Heights, marking a massive territorial expansion.

Human rights groups warn of an alarming deterioration in humanitarian conditions in northeastern Syria. Continuous clashes between Turkish-backed forces and Kurdish fighters have displaced over 100,000 people, aggravating an already critical situation.

In a symbolic act of defiance, Syrian fighters have set fire to the tomb of Hafez al-Assad, father of the ousted president Bashar al-Assad, in Qardaha in northern Latakia. This development is indicative of the tension that continues within the region.

Ahmed al-Sharaa, one of the leaders of the factions that overthrew al-Assad, has promised to seal the former regime’s infamous prisons and sites suspected of housing chemical weapons – and he wants the international community to help.

Meanwhile, Syria’s transitional Prime Minister Mohammed al-Bashir has outlined a commitment to repatriate millions of Syrian refugees currently living abroad. He stressed that restoring state institutions is one of the main ways to rebuild the nation.
