Escalating tensions in Gaza as civilian casualties surge

Armed Palestinian groups and invading Israeli forces engage in intense fighting in Southern Gaza as civilian death tolls rise after nine months of strong conflict.

It has become even worse as protesters assemble as Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu speaks to the US Congress, Jewish-Americans incensed by the Gaza war and no truce deal for captives.

Over the last day, at least 121 Palestinians have been reported dead and hundreds injured in Khan Younis, the southern town where Israel launched its operation. According to the estimate, around one hundred and fifty thousand people in the region have been displaced.

The number of fatalities still continues to rise, with the minimum number reaching 39,145 people killed and 90,257 wounded since the beginning of the Israelian war on Gaza. On the Israeli side, according to data from October 7, 608 people were killed, and tens of dozens are still kept in captivity in Gaza.

With the duration of the war, the global society is under pressure to participate in mediating the peace negotiations and to establish a lasting cease-fire agreement in the view to end the humanitarian disaster that takes place in the area.
