It was rather disheartening to note that the fight between the Israeli and Palestinians started claiming more lives for the people of Gaza. As stated by the head of the Gaza Government Media Office, “Israel” has targeted the Shati refugee camp and the Tuffah neighborhood, and at least 42 Palestinians have been killed.
The WHO has said that the healthcare system in Gaza is now almost on the brink of collapse as more patients still rushed to the Al-Aqsa Hospital as a result of an Israeli air strike on the al-Mawasi “Safe zone.” This is a concerning and alarming move that further points to the severities of the regional humanitarian crisis.
In other places, the tanks have advanced to western Rafah with warplanes and artillery bombarding the city. To retaliate, a Hamas-affiliated improvised explosive device targeted and detonated, destroying an Israeli armored vehicle in a highly charged escalation of the conflict.
The conflict has had internal negative effects since both sides have been affected severely. Gaza-Israel conflict since Oct 7 has claimed at least 37,551 and wounded 85, 911: Palestinian death toll. According to the latest reports, 1,139 people died in the Israel hi-tech Hamas-led attacks, while dozens are still missing in Gaza.
Given the state of affairs and with the situation in the region still explosive, the international community appeals to parties to cease hostilities and go back to the negotiating table to resolve the long-standing conflict peacefully.
