Escalating violence: 26 Palestinians killed in Gaza attacks

Medical sources are quoted as saying that at least 26 Palestinians were killed by Israeli airstrikes throughout the Gaza Strip since dawn, among them 18 who were killed in the Jabalia refugee camp where the military operations are underway in the north.

The UN Human Rights Office had sounded the alarm, concerned that Israel might be contributing to the extinguishment of the Palestinian people living in Gaza’s northernmost governorate through death and continuous displacement.

In another escalation, at least 12 Israeli missiles pounded the southern suburbs of Beirut after attacks left at least 16 people dead throughout Lebanon on Saturday, according to Lebanon’s Ministry of Health. According to the UN, another Israeli army bulldozer also destroyed a peacekeeping observation tower in southern Lebanon in yet another incident against the UN’s Interim Force in Lebanon, UNIFIL.

The situation in Gaza has become extremely dire since October 7, 2023, with devastating outcomes where at least 42,603 people have been killed and another 99,795 wounded by Israeli attacks. On the day of the attacks on October 7, an estimated 1,139 were killed in Israel, with over 200 captured. It has resulted in an alarming escalation of violence, showing a growing humanitarian crisis in the region.
