Rahul Gandhi on his tour of the US, accused the Election Commission of India of having been compromised. Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday indicted Rahul Gandhi for besmirching India’s democratic reputation on world stages, after the Congress chief accused at a function in Boston that the Election Commission was “compromised”.
“It is indeed unfortunate that Rahul Gandhi travels out of the country and makes false claims about institutions formed by this nation’s constitution and attempts to bring disrepute to it. He attempts to question democracy. I think he is making such attempts because of the aftereffects that have resulted for him due to back-to-back election defeats,” he added.
How Rahul Gandhi is acting has created a question mark on his character. Rather than doing such acts, if he goes among the people and wins the confidence of the people, then he will be able to win the elections. He cannot win elections by defaming anybody,” he added.
Rahul Gandhi, while speaking to the Indian diaspora in Boston, USA, accused, “It’s very clear to us that the Election Commission is compromised, there is something very wrong with the system.” He also referred to the Maharashtra assembly elections as an example of the wrongdoing of the ECI, stating, “More people voted in Maharashtra than the total number of people, and this is a fact.
The Election Commission provided us with a figure in the evening at about 5:30 pm, and within two hours, about 7:30 pm, 65 lakh voters had voted, which is physically impossible.” In the event, the Congress leader also made a mention of enhancing ties between India and the United States.
