Five US troops injured in Rocket attack on Iraq base

Katyusha rockets targeted Ain al-Assad airbase for twice. An Iraqi security source stated that the incident the rockets fell inside the base.

US representatives have reported that at least five military personnel of the United States were hurt in a strike of the base in Iraq as tensions escalate after the liquidation of the high-ranking Hamas and Hezbollah members a week ago.

Regarding the incident one of the Iraqi source stated that the rockets landed within the facility. The relationship of the attack to threats by Iran to retaliate over the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was also not very clear.

The unidentified US officials, who spoke to the Reuters conditionally, reported that one of the Americans had been left critical. The Associated Press news agency quoting the US def ense officials reported up to seven soldiers and civilians injured.

On Tuesday, Iraq declared that it does not accept any ‘silly’ move that aims at the Iraqi bases, its embassies, and the US-led coalition facilities.
