Flight makes emergency landing after mouse in passenger’s meal

Scandinavia Airlines (SAS) was compelled to make an emergency landing on Wednesday after a rogue mouse scampered out of one passenger’s meal.

The incident occurred when the flight from Oslo, Norway, to Malaga, Spain, diverted to Copenhagen, Denmark, following the rumor that a rodent was on board.

The company confirmed yesterday that the emergency landing was due to a live mouse on board that crawled out of a meal served to a passenger on the flight.

It goes without saying that airlines strictly forbid rodents from flying because they may pose a severe threat to flight operations by chewing on the electrical wiring of the plane.

According to an SAS official, Oystein Schmidt addressing AFP, there was a change of aircraft. The passengers were taken to Malaga on another flight.

This happens extremely rarely, Schmidt added.

We have established procedures for such situations, which also include review with our suppliers to ensure this does not happen again,” he said.

Other than damage to property, there was a reported incident in which an old passenger named Jarle Borrestad, along with his friends, was traveling on the SAS flight.

He, too, shared the ordeal on his Facebook page with a photograph of him with two women. “Believe it or not. A lady next to me opened her food, and a mouse jumped out,” he wrote.

BBC reports, “Borrestad was sitting alongside a woman who spotted the mouse in the meal. This incident added just a few hours to the flight, as the flight would have to divert.

Train services were suspended mid-journey across southern England due to two squirrels entering a train, one of which refused to come out, causing panic among the train full of travelers.
