In an important legal complaint filed on Tuesday, a former Intel worker has sued the company for dismissal on the grounds of discrimination in the form of antisemitism. The plaintiff, who is a John Doe, alleges that he was dismissed scarcely two months after he was posted to report to Alaa Badr, a National Investment Company’s senior executive who, the lawsuit identified, glorified antisemites and terrorism against Israel.
Doe, who was once a vice president of engineering and a former soldier of the Israel Defense Forces, claims that on the 2nd of April this year, Intel dismissed him in what he said was a layoff program. He said that Badr raised tensions from his Twitter account by retweeting posts that encouraged violence against Israeli citizens and soldiers.
This, coupled with reports that a replacement for Doe, Badr, commented on how there were so many Israeli employees in the company, is the basis for the civil action.
Intel has chosen not to discuss the current litigation by saying, ‘Intel has always stood for diversity and inclusion and absolutely does not condone hate speech.
Doe is thus demanding lost wages and damages under the federal civil rights statute and the New York state and city human rights statute. Also, he seeks to be anonymised, insisting that he will be harassed and threatened because of his military service.
The complaint relies on Intel’s history of connection to Israel and uses the story of the first hired worker, Andrew Grove.
