As the second got underway in Italy, the G7 leaders urged the tun-bloc United Nations Relief and Works Agency to remain fully functional in the Gaza Strip.
The so-called G7 countries emphasized in their last statement the urgent need to ensure that UNRWA and other United Nations organizations are provided with the necessary means that will enable them to deliver assistance to those in need in the Gaza Strip, especially women and children.
The leaders spoke of the contagious size of concerns over establishing “full, rapid, safe and unhindered humanitarian access” to the afflicted area, especially through appropriate ground and sea axes.
The statement also spoke of the concern over an ‘unacceptable number of civilian casualties’ due to ground operations in Rafah and the threat of a more extensive Israeli military operation that could have ‘potentially disastrous effects on civilians.
The G7 leaders also called upon the Israeli government not to pursue the said operation and seconded the condemnation of the increasing incidents of violence committed by Israeli settlers against Palestinians.
Oxfam International Charity organization took its response to the G7 statement urging the Israeli and its allies to go from talking to doing and acting on the proposed comprehensive plan to cease hostilities, withdrawing Israeli forces from Gaza, and ending the occupation, among other measures.
The G7 summit also covered other impactful global issues, including migration, artificial intelligence, and economic security, as the leaders expressed their commitment to solving the existing world challenges.
