Gaza conflict escalates after deadly Israeli raid on refugee camp

The latest aggression in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the Gaza Strip has drawn much outrage, with the European Union (EU) referring to the act as a ‘‘massacre’’ Shakhs Barbera of the Gaza Government Media Office has put the death toll of the operation at 226 and over 400 injured.

Some sources have reported from the doctors working in the Al-Aqsa Hospital in the central Gaza Strip stating that the inside of the hospital resembled a ‘complete bloodbath’ and a ‘slaughterhouse,’ though the medics in the Al-Aqsa and Nasser hospitals overwhelmed as stated by the Doctors without Boarders also known as MSF.

Israeli forces state that during the raid on Nuseirat, they freed four kidnap victims, though this operation has been heavily criticized because of the huge number of people killed. Unfortunately, one of the Israeli officers died in the attack as well, which was so lethal.

Hamas’ military spokesman has accused Israel of executing the detainees during the alleged operation in Nuseirat. However, how it occurred and the number of people who died remain unspecified.

It is much worse; at least 36,801 people have been killed and 83,680 injured as the violence in the Gaza Strip continues even up to this date on October 7. Hamas has revised the death toll for Israel up to 1,139 while many civilians are reported missing in Gaza, with almost dozens of them held as captives.

The increased instances of conflict escalation and the intensifying human losses have attracted global condemnation, with EU and other leaders demanding that the fighting stop and that the conflict be resolved in a diplomatic fashion.

As the situation unfolds systematically, it is causing increased concern across the global community, which demands that both factions act responsibly and protect every non-combatant in the region.
