The situation in Gaza and Israel has remained strained, evidenced by the high number of deaths and injuries reported over the last two days. Till now, the Gaza Health Ministry revealed that 69 Palestinians were killed and 212 more were injured by the Israelis in these attacks.
As the attacks continue, a new delegation of the group has arrived in Cairo, including a senior figure of Hamas, Khalil al-Hayya, to participate in the ceasefire talks. Although the group will be informed of the state of the discussions, they will not be directly involved in the negotiations.
Perhaps in a more alarming move, the Israeli army has placed new demands for people to evacuate areas in the northern Gaza strip while the bombing and shelling of the northern, central, and south of the Gaza strip goes on.
Gaza’s grim reality has also been of concern to the UN, with a UN official claiming that the Palestinian children were ‘paying the heaviest price. ’ Gaza is now in a desperate need of humanitarian assistance including food and drastically has received an alarming level of malnutrition.
Both sides had suffered huge losses in the conflict, and as per the latest tally, the death tally has reached 40334, and the wounded count is 93356 in the recent war on Gaza. A family member of a victim of home demolition said, during a recent of the house and in a separate development, it is estimated that 1139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks on October 7.
While the global audience holds its breath and watches with concern, the ongoing discussions in Cairo may be the key to a possible cease-fire and subsequent resolution of this long conflict.
