Gaza conflict: Over 70 children killed in recent strikes

The Gazan civil defense agency has announced an unprecedented number of victims: Israeli strikes have killed at least 70 Palestinian children in the past five days alone. Things worsened with the reported strike of an Israeli missile on a school in Jabalia that was housing forcibly displaced Palestinians, killing at least eight civilians, including children.

In an effort to negotiate a cease-fire and the exchange of captives, Mr Netanyahu has sent top negotiators to Qatar. The delegation is headed by senior officials from Mossad and Shin Bet security agencies.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces have continued their operations in southern Lebanon, even as the Lebanese army has been deploying in various regions under a ceasefire accord with Hezbollah.

The endless conflict has already turned the Gaza Strip into an unimaginable catastrophic situation, where at least 46,565 Palestinians have been killed and more than 109,660 wounded since the hostilities started to increase extremely on October 7, 2023. On that very day, in Israel, at least 1,139 people were killed in attacks led by Hamas, while over 200 other people were taken hostage.
