Hamas has remained unrelenting in its assertion that only a cessation of hostilities results in the disarmament of Gaza; this is while they accused the U. S. of merely giving Israel a green light to launch what they described as genocides. When specifics of the new demands of Israel came to light, Hamas called on the international community to force PM Benjamin Netanyahu to accept the ceasefire terms that President Joe Biden proffered.
Osama Hamdan, a Hamas spokesperson, said Israel has pulled back from its original position, which means the U.S. could not compel Netanyahu to change his stand. On the other hand, Biden said that Hamas was ‘pulling out of’ previous agreements.
United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Israel agreed to a bridging proposal to normalize relations so that a ceasefire could be proposed as an important stage for negotiations. However, Hamas dismissed the fresh proposal as being in tandem with Netanyahu’s requirement, chopping down the option of a truce.
The continued walking of negotiations and Israeli attacks led to Human casualties; at least 12 schools were attacked in Gaza City, which hosted displaced civilians. The picture of the humanitarian crisis has not improved; more than forty thousand people were killed and close to ninety thousand injured as the war continued.
