
Hamas has revealed an agreement with the mediators over the release of 620 Palestinian detainees and prisoners, who were to be released by Israel last week. Al-Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades, which belongs to Hamas, have confirmed that the remains of Israeli captive Ohad Yahalomi are one of four which will be surrendered in Gaza tomorrow.
In another development, Israel’s military bombed sites south of Damascus, Syria, killing at least two people. The Israeli military said that having military personnel in southern Syria would be a major threat to its national security.
In the midst of these tensions, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric appealed to Israel to allow more tents and shelters to enter the Gaza Strip. The appeal comes in the wake of the deaths of six Palestinian infants due to hypothermia from a cold spell in the territory.
The Gaza Health Ministry reported a devastating 48,348 Palestinian fatalities from the conflict, with 111,761 people injured. The Government Media Office, on its part, revised the death toll to a minimum of 61,709, as thousands of missing Palestinians who were under rubble are considered dead. In Israel, at least 1,139 people died due to the consequences of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack, with over 200 abducted.
