Harshit Rana’s future in England: speculation grows

Rana featured in his Test debut during the tour of Australia last year, where he took only four wickets at a rate of 50.75, with best match figures of 3-48 in Perth. He did not feature in the forthcoming five-match series against England as the Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel chose Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, and Prasidh Krishna to provide cover for the fast-bowling unit along with Jaspreet Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.

In all, the Rana based in New Delhi has a 13 first-class cricket average of 27.79 with the ball with 48 wickets. With the bat, he has an average of 32.80, including a century and two half-centuries.

India, led by Shubman Gill, is looking to win a Test series in England since 2007. The five-match Test series at Headingley, Edgbaston, Lord’s, Old Trafford, and The Oval will be India’s inaugural assignment in the 2025-27 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle as well.
