Heightened tensions: Israel strikes Lebanon after Golan Heights attack

In a worsening of the conflict across the area, the Israeli military bombed Lebanon on Sunday with attacks it said were aimed at Hezbollah weapons storage and facilities. This followed Israel’s accusation that the Lebanese group was responsible for the attack in the occupied Golan Heights that claimed the lives of two of its soldiers the previous day.

Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attack on the Golan Heights as a Hezbollah crossing a “red line” as it claimed the lives of twelve people. Saturday’s move is the extent of Hezbollah’s indiscretion.

The ministry noted that the act is not a standard military that is fighting another military, but rather involves a terrorist group targeting civilians, this is in a statement.

A separate source can emphatically dismiss Hezbollah as the guilty party, and some rumors say that perhaps an Israeli intercepting missile failed and caused this entire scenario. But the Israeli military said that the Saturday attack was made by the Falaq rocket that Iran has supplied to Hezbollah since October, which was first marked as border fighting.

Israeli air strikes struck a Beirut-Damascus road border in Bekaa Valley and installations in and around Tyre City in southern Lebanon, as well as several villages in the same region. The military adds that it “is stepping up preparations for the next phase in the north while it presses on with operations in the strip. ”

This has increased the prospects of the conflict spreading to the rest of the region. Iran, Hezbollah’s regional supporter, threatened to act against Israel through any action on Lebanon based on the Majdal Shams incident;

Lebanon’s President expressed that he would not interfere in the investigation of the event, while the United States supported Israel’s right to protect its people from acts of terrorism while cautioning against escalation of the conflict.

International organizations such as the United Nations and the European Union, among others, have urged restraint and appealed for an independent probe into the attack on the Golan Heights. Staying on this, the region prepares for the possibility of a further escalation of the conflict.
