The Iran-aligned Lebanese militant group Hezbollah said Tuesday it had targeted two positions in the suburbs of Israel’s Tel Aviv, including an intelligence base.
A report by AFP, citing a statement by Hezbollah, said a salvo of rockets was fired against the Glilot base of the 8200 military intelligence unit.
Hezbollah also targeted another position in Tel Aviv’s suburbs with rockets, the statement added. The militant group also fired missiles at an Israeli Navy base in Haifa.
The Israeli military said in a statement that after sirens sounded in “central Israel, approximately five projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon. The majority. were intercepted.”
Hezbollah attacks followed as the Israeli military declared to be bombing the Lebanese branches of an association accused of financing Hezbollah.
The 11 Israeli strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut, many of which targeted Al-Qard Al-Hassan, the Lebanese state media reported Monday, October 21.
The conflict, pitting Israel against Iran-aligned Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, resumed a year ago when the militant group started firing rockets at Israel in support of Palestinian militants Hamas at the start of the Gaza war.
The Israeli-Lebanese conflict has left more than 2,400 people killed and over 11,600 others injured in the country, according to the Lebanese health ministry.
