Package holidays from the UK to all-inclusive family breaks in some of the most sought-after destinations, such as Spain, Cyprus and Turkey, have increased in price. The cost for a week in Cyprus in August has risen by 23%, from £950 per person to £1,166, statistics brought together for the BBC by TravelSupermarket indicate.
Of the top 10 most searched countries, Tunisia and Italy are the only countries to notice prices fall by 11% and 4% respectively against 2024. Holidaymakers are taking short breaks or travelling mid-week, travel agents report. The top five destinations ranked in order of most searched are: Spain, Greece, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Portugal. They have all noticed price increases.
UAE trips have experienced the largest increase, up 26% from £1,210 in August 2024 to £1,525 this year. Cyprus registered the second-largest increase and took ninth place in search popularity. The data are drawn from searches over the internet, conducted on TravelSupermarket between 18 April and 17 June, for seven-night, all-inclusive family holidays in August 2024 and 2025.
Though this snapshot of information shows an overall trend, prices will differ based on precisely where a family travels and when they make their reservations. Advantage Travel Partnership chief executive Julia Lo Bue-Said explained the price increases were due to a range of factors.
“Those hikes merely keep up with the overall cost of doing business and are a reflection of the fact that there are higher operating costs, from higher utility bills for hotels, to increased food costs for restaurants and higher wages throughout the hospitality industry,” she said.
However, she added the group had witnessed proof that holidaymakers did have cash to burn. Other customers were trading up to higher-end all-inclusive packages and paying extra for pricier cabin seats on long-haul flights to destinations like Dubai, she added.
