The southeastern state is still recovering from the rampage that Hurricane Helene left on September 26.

What category is Hurricane Milton?
As of Monday, Hurricane Milton is a Category 5 hurricane with the highest category on the Saffir-Simpson scale used to rank hurricanes.

According to a report by the National Hurricane Center (NHC), the maximum sustained wind speed of the hurricane was 285km/h (180mph) as of Tuesday at 00:00 GMT.
