Imran Khan accuses Army Chief of involvement in wife’s incarceration

Imran Khan, the self-titled ex-prime minister of Pakistan who is now confined to Adiala Jail, has addressed critical accusations involving the army officer, General Asim Munir, in connecting him to the detention of his wife, Bushra Bibi. Khan also said that General Munir was the judge who made the final decision to see his wife sentenced.

Hence, indicating that there was an unwarranted level of coercion working behind the scenes. Being the very sincere and bold man he was, he issued a tough statement to General Munir, saying that he and his men would relentlessly chase Munir if anything happened to her wife. Further, he promised that Munir would not live a day longer if he would hurt her in any way, so long as he still lived.

Khan condemned the prevailing state of affairs in his country, calling the “law of the jungle” the regime, grounded on the absolute monopoly of the mighty, the most notorious embodiment of this state. Being wise he cited the selective rule of justice contrasting leniency shown towards Nawaz Sharif and his political rivals with their own and the party as a whole condemnation doomed without any question.

Economic factor being first and foremost, Khan suggested voracious investment as the driver of stability and denounced the dependence on IMF debts. He underlined the importance of creating a suitable legal groundage as an investment attraction.

Furthermore, Khan took reference to the most recent violent dispute between the police and the army in the southwestern city of Bahawalnagar, in which the military was argued by many as being favoured and had the upper hand over civilian security forces to the extent that the rule of law is very successfully undermined in Pakistan.

Although these severe claims are in the news, the army hasn’t responded yet to the political game and hierarchy becoming worse and more tense than it was.
